Spring Games Have Begun

Graefruit League baseball games won't start till tomorrow. However, there are a few Phillies who have already found ways to compete and have fun, after growing tired of drills and practice.

Raul Ibanez vs. Pat Gillick- Staring Contest! They are stiilllll going. Stay tuned to your PhoulBallz network to see who blinks first.

Over the weekend, the Phillies played dress up. Here, Scott Eyre is seen helping Colbert Hamels with his attire and reminding everyone that the Phillies are #1.

News update-

MLB.com reports that Phils reliever Scott Eyre is suffering great financial setbacks because he invested money with scammer Robert Allen Stanford. Federal regulators have frozen assets tied to Stanford, and this includes accounts belonging to Eyre, and other MLB players, while the investigation is ongoing.

Happy Baseball Games Eve! Scott Lauber, of The News Journal, reports tomorrow's Grapefruit League opening day starting lineup for our Phillies is as follows...

SS Jimmy Rollins, CF Shane Victorino, LF Raul Ibanez, 1B Ryan Howard, RF Geoff Jenkins, DH Matt Stairs, 2B Jason Donald, 3B Eric Bruntlett, C Chris Coste, P Jamie Moyer.

Ibanez was a curious signing by the Phils, considering his age. Your thoughts?

I like the addition of him as a player. I would certainly have preferred keeping Burrell, after all the pay days for similar free agent OF's were said and done.

Burrell's, Abreu's and Garrett Anderson's contracts really leave the Phillies looking like they overspent HUGE on Ibanez.

Harry Kalas Phorever...

Legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas passed away today. Harry collapsed while preparing to call today's game against the Washington Nationals. So many phans will feel as though we've lost a member of our own families. I feel as though I've lost a part of myself, but Harry enhanced my love of the great sport we call baseball and I will always carry that love, and Harry, in my heart. I've stated on this page before that I consider Harry more of a Phillie than anyone who wears the uniform as an active member of the roster. Harry Kalas was a Phillie. Moreso, Harry Kalas was the Phillies. Please share your thoughts and memories of Harry in the comments section, or send them to PhoulBallz (at) verizon (dot) net.

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
