Thanks for helping this site conti...

The 2010 Video Countdown- Number 2

This 7th night of Hanukkah brings the runner up to video of the year. The second best Phillies video of the year is brought to you by the wonderful Cy Young Award winning pitcher known as Roy Halladay. On May 29th, in Florida, Halladay etched his name into history books everywhere by throwing a perfect game against the Marlins. Plenty has been written about this. Only the video of Halladay himself does the feat any justice. Have a look at the media player below to watch this golden moment from Phillies history one more time. 2010 Phils Video Countdown, Night 6

As we continue on with the countdown we do each year during Hanukkah, to mark the top 8 Phillies videos of the year, we come across another clip straight from the minor leagues. This year's number 3 ranked video comes directly from the minds of two Phils' minor leaguers. In an exclusive interview last month, first base prospect Matt Rizzotti told the story of how he and Reading Phillies teammate Tagg Bozied came up with the concept to produce a promotional video of the pressure bestowed upon the team's cleanup hitter. Check out the media player below to hear Matt explain what led to the video and then check out the second media player to view the end result. Happy Hanukkah to all! _____________________________________________________________________ You can follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter by clicking HERE . Phils Video Countdown, Night 5

Here on PhoulBallz.com we celebrate Hanukkah annually by counting down the top Phillies related YouTube videos of the year. Tonight, on this 5th night of the Festival of Lights, we recognize a tie in the 4th spot. The 4th ranked videos are related and both filmed by me. Back in September, the Phils' Class A alffiliate, the Lakewood BlueClaws, won their second consecutive South Atlantic League championship. Several Lakewood players were on the team for both postseason stretches and that group included starting pitcher Trevor May, who celebrated greatly with his sweet dance moves. Below are two videos. The first clip is of pitcher Josh Zeid locking down the BlueClaws' title by recording the final out while the second features May's boogie time. Video Coundown Rolls On...Night 4

Welcome to the fourth night of the annual Phillies video countdown that we do each year during Hanukkah! On the list of top Phillies videos of the season, we can't forget about this gem, brought to us by the folks at TastyKake. This season's edition of the annual ad that co-stars the Phillie Phanatic and Kirbee Krimpet, also featured a pair of handsome local bloggers/writers that you may be familiar with. "Ryan Petzrawr", of Long Drive and TheFightins.com fame, and yours truly, "Jay Ballz", were on hand this year on a brisk March morning to film the TV spot that was seen during each Phillies game throughout the 2010 season. While my filmed closeups were not included in the spot, Ryan and some friends were featured more prominently. The screen capture below shows one of the multiple group shots that I was featured in (far left). Ryan happens to be the lucky individual seen high-fiving the Phanatic in every version of this advertisement. Check out the media p...

2010 Phillies Video Countdown, Night 3

If you've kept tabs here, you'd know that Hanukkah marks the annual countdown on PhoulBallz.com where we list the top Phillies videos of the year. On this third night of Hanukkah, I bring you video #6 for 2010. Check out the media player below to have a look. This video shows all the key turning points from the Reds vs. Phillies game on July 9th, 2010. I was in Lakewood on this night, covering the Phillies' Single A affiliate the Lakewood BlueClaws. The 'Claws rolled to a 4-3 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds with the rehabbing Carlos Ruiz leading the way, while the Phillies entered the bottom of the 9th inning trailing 7-1. As the Baby Phils' clubhouse filled up following the final out in Lakewood, the attention in manager Mark Parent's office turned toward a Big Phillies comeback. First, an RBI hit by Ryan Howard plated Shane Victorino to get the Phils within 5 runs. Then it was a 3-run homer by Greg Dobbs that scored Howard and Jayson Werth to close the g...

2010 Hanukkah Video Countdown, Night 2

Happy second night of The Festival of Lights, everyone! Tonight, I bring you clip #7 in this year's annual PhoulBallz list of top Phillies videos of the year. Check out the media player below. This video, while actually just audio with a slide show visual, is my exclusive interview with Carlos Ruiz from July of this year. Ruiz was in Lakewood playing with the Phils' Class A affiliate, the BlueClaws, on an injury rehab assignment. Highlights of the interview include Ruiz speaking about his teammates and revealing the way he likes his ice cream best in his insanely lovable accent. Happy holidays! ___________________________________________________________________ You can follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter by clicking HERE . 3rd Annual Video Countdown

As I do each year around this time, the multi-cultural phamily of PhoulBallz celebrates Hanukkah by counting down the top 8 Phillies videos of the year. Worth noting is that due to MLB being tight with video availability and embedding restrictions, this normally comes down to the top 8 Phillies videos that are available on YouTube. So, light the menorah and check out the media player below to begin counting down with us. In this video brought to you by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce , Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Roy Halladay take part in a lengthy question and answer session with Phillies phans. Highlights include Howard talking about Subway sandwiches, Ibanez talking about the support of the Philadelphia crowds, Halladay mentioning how close he was to playing college basketball and Howard reminding us about how superior Davey Lopes was as a first base coach for the Phillies. Happy hanukkah, everyone. Stay hot. ________________________________________________________ You...

The 8th Crazy Night & the #1 Video

As Hanukkah wraps up, so does the annual PhoulBallz top 8 Phillies videos countdown. There's really no need to explain this video or to elaborate on its ranking in this countdown. All I will say is Phillies phans were very lucky that HARRY KALAS was their guy for all those years. Happy Hanukkah to all. ---------------------------- Follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter HERE !

Hanukkah Phillies Video Countdown, Night #7

In the annual Best Phillies YouTube Videos of the Year Countdown that we do every Hanukkah, we've reached this year's #2 video...which is actually a pair of clips honoring the Phillies' second straight World Series berth. The first of two here is the post game celebration from the TBS television broadcast of game 5 of the National League Championship Series, when the Phillies clinched a return to the World Series. Obviously, the game is more important than this content but, considering we always run into the issue of MLB being stingy with their game footage, we use the post game celebration instead. There are great moments here, including speeches by team president David Montgomery and series MVP Ryan Howard as well as a perfect moment as Philly phaithful boo broadcaster Ernie Johnson. As an extension to that video, we have the Ron Browz/Jim Jones "Pop Champagne" music video remix featuring Chan Hooooo Park celebrating the NLCS win. It was a tremendous run goin...

Hanukkah Countdown, Night #6/Video #3

Hey, gang. It's the 6th night of Hannukah, and we're getting closer to the top ranked spot on this year's PhoulBallz Top 8 Phillies Videos on YouTube Countdown. The #3 video is this edited clip of Henry Hill in Goodfellas reacting to the Phillies' radio broadcast when Jimmy Rollins slapped the game winning walk-off hit to beat the Dodgers in game 4 of the National League Championship Series. It was the greatest comeback I have ever seen. The creator of the video, "n8productions", did so to win a t-shirt from thefightins.com. So, to the creator and the fightins I offer tips of the proverbial cap, and congrats on creating a tremendous video for all phans. Happy Hanukkah, everyone. ------------------- Hey, follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter HERE !

More of the 8 Crazy Nights Video Countdown

It's the 5th night of Hanukkah and the PhoulBallz Phillies Video Countdown is still rolling along. The 4th ranked video is FunnyOrDie.com's skit where Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard host a Fantasy Camp. The clip was done in conjunction with the MLB Players Association Players Trust. It was quite funny and encouraged volunteerism. Good stuff. Happy Hanukkah! --------------------------- Follow PhoulBallz on Twitter HERE !

The Countdown Continues...

It's the 4th night of Hanukkah and that brings along the #5 video in our annual PhoulBallz top Phillies videos of the year countdown. This video features Phillies prospects Travis D'Arnaud, "Moose" Mattair, Jacob Diekman, Jeremy Hamilton and other members of the 2009 SAL Champion Lakewood BlueClaws performing the Cha Cha Slide during a rain delay at home in May. This is just one classic moment in Lakewood's championship season. Happy Hanukkah, everyone. Everybody clap yo' hands!! ------------------------------ Follow PhoulBallz on Twitter HERE !

Festival of Lights Video(s) #6

It's the third night of Hanukkah. Along with that, it's the third night of the annual PhoulBallz top 8 Phillies videos of the year countdown. For the 6th spot on this year's list we have a three way tie, as they all belong together anyway. These are all news clips that followed the Phillies clinching a berth in their second straight World Series. The first video is a Fox 29 clip of a wild phan taking a tumble off the top of a moving cab. Ouch. The next clip is NBC 10's Claudia Rivero getting air humped during her live remote street appearance. Too Sexy! And then more Fox 29 footage of a phan celebrating atop a traffic light, while attempting to dodge projectile beverages...at the 1:05 mark. Good times. Stay tipsy! ------------------------ Follow PhoulBallz.com on Twitter HERE !

Night #2 Brings Video #7

Phans, it's Hanukkah and that means we're doing the annual PhoulBallz countdown of top Phillies videos of the year. These are not game moments, these are not necessarily highlights, they are simply the top Phillies videos of 2009 on YouTube. In our countdown, clip #7 features Jimmy Rollins doing promotional work with Red Bull, as he crashes Linc lot tail gate parties, for the Phillies/Mets series over Independence Day weekend, hidden in a Red Bull truck. Phans were surprised and it resulted in some pretty cool footage. Way to go, J-Bull. Bonus content from Red Bull...Jimmy answers the door with a bat and gives a tour of his home- link here . 8 Crazy Nights- Best 2009 Phillies YouTubes

We started this tradition last year. Each night of Hanukkah, PhoulBallz.com will countdown the 8 best Phillies videos on YouTube from that year. So, as we begin holiday celebrations in the multi-cultural Fam of Ballz, we invite you to light candles with us as we celebrate the festival of lights, deliver gifts to children, eat latkes and light candles. This year's #8 Phillies YouTube is a clip of the Phillies' radio broadcasters' call of the NL East division clincher. It's really not a video, but it's on YouTube, while TV calls are not, because MLB is stingy with their footage...thus we have the radio call. Scott Franzke is a gem and this clip is outstanding as he paints a picture. The entire situation was great...from the stadium scoreboard staff not notifying the crowd in attendance and the players of the field that the Phillies were already division champs due to a Braves loss seconds prior to the final out, to Charlie Manuel calling on Brad Lidge to pitch the fin...

As Hanukkah wraps up, so does the Top 8 Videos list

It's phinally here- The night we've all been waiting for. It is the 8th night of Hanukkah and that means The Phoul Ballz is bringing you The Best Phillies Video of 2008 (that I could find on Youtube). This video is brought to you straight from the hometown radio broadcast booth. There is a combination of some things that make this one of the greatest clips I have ever seen. The main thing is, of course, the Phillies winning the World Series. Next, is Harry Kalas' classic call of the happenings on the field. And the other is "The Wheeler". Yes, The Wheeler is the party dance performed by Phils color analyst Chris Wheeler as he quietly celebrates, so that Harry can make the call. Fist pumping, near-humping gestures, high fives, arm thrusts and more all add up to the hottest moves this side of Danny Jackson's Hulk Hogan impressions. *BONUS* These will be your honorable mentions for this list. Consideration could be made for having these videos rank in a tie at #1...

Hanukkah weekend!

We're up to #2! This video is classic and would surely we worthy of top status, if the Phillies didn't do what they did this year. If that spoils the number spot for you, keep in mind that here at the Phoul Ballz, you should expect the unexpected. Anyway, our #2 video is the all time classic prank played by Brett Myers and dozens of cooperatives on rookie Kyle Kendrick. Myers worked with Charlie Manuel, Ruben Amaro Jr, the media and teammates, during spring training, to convince Kendrick that he had been traded to Japan. Hilarity ensued, and the internet and national TV caught fire with prank-mania!

THREE!

Hi, again. The countdown is now at #3. This place on the list belongs to Cole Hamels on the Late Show. Colbert became a national celebrity this autumn with his good looks, stellar post season pitching and, of course, his cool name. Here is night #6's entry for "The 8 Best Phillies Videos of 2008 (that I can find on Youtube)".

As we continue on...

Welcome back to "The 8 Best Phillies Videos of 2008 (that I can find on Youtube)". We're up to the final four. Starting off the top half of this list is one of the best plays of the season. It's the play that saved Brad Lidge's perfect season, and clinched the NL East division title for the Phillies. It's that hugely clutch 6-4-3 double play!! It's Jimmy Rollins' diving stop, followed by a flip to Chase Utley, who relays it to Ryan Howard! The #4 videos on our list are the same play from 3 different angles. The top one here has the most complete view of the play, while the next two may have more intense displays from the crowd. Again, MLB's strict rules limit availability of regular game broadcast footage on Youtube, but that is what makes this list fun...because I've got to post phans' phootage from the stands. These phans-eye-view recordings show wild and amazing scenes as the crowd erupts and the ballpark practically shakes.
