PNTV Interview: Lakewood Pitching Coach Aaron Fultz

Former Phillies left-handed reliever Aaron Fultz now serves as the pitching coach for the Class A Lakewood BlueClaws. The Alabama native spent his first season as a pro coach, last year, with the short-season Williamsport Crosscutters. During his playing career, Fultz's best season was 2005, when he tallied a 4-0 record with a 2.24 ERA in 62 appearances for the Phils. Fultz also played in the big leagues with the Twins, the Rangers, the Giants and the Indians. Early this season, I interviewed Aaron for Phillies Nation TV. The 39-year-old spoke about his time with the Phillies, his transition into coaching and some of his pitching prospects. The segment went unused on the TV program, but we definitely wanted to bring it to the fans anyway. Check out the interview in the media player below and tune into Phillies Nation TV every Tuesday at 6 PM on The Comcast Network. The program also replays throughout the week, so check your listings.

PN Roundtable: 2013 Bold Predictions

Today at PhilliesNation.com, the staff there pitched in for a roundtable entry, proclaiming their bold Phillies predictions for 2013.  My standout thought on what's to come next season was not specifically about the Phillies, so it was not included in the post by the prevailing site editor, but it's still related to the team, if you ask me. Check out my bold prediction for the coming season and then click the link below, to see what Brian, Corey, Ian and the gang had to say about what they expect from the likes of Charlie Manuel , Carlos Ruiz , Ben Revere and others in 2013. Prediction not specifically for the Phils, but related- Former Phillies first round draft pick Travis d'Arnaud, acquired from Toronto in the R.A. Dickey trade, claims the starting catcher job for the Metropolitans by June and is named National League Rookie of the Year in November.  d'Arnaud has posted a .320 batting average while slugging 37 HR in 181 games the past two years, com...

PN Round Table: What should the Phils do with Ruf?

First baseman/outfielder Darin Ruf has had a tremendous season for the Double-A Reading Phillies. After setting a team single season record with 38 home runs, getting named Eastern League Most Valuable Player and being honored as the Phillies top offensive minor leaguer with the Paul Owens Award, Ruf could be on the verge of a September call up once the R-Phils have completed their possible postseason run. This week, one of my other internet homes PhilliesNation.com asked its writers to offer their thoughts on what the big league Phils should do with the 26-year-old Ruf. Listed below is what I had to say on this matter. Click this link to read the full post featuring comments from PN's Eric Seidman, Ian Riccaboni and Ryan Dinger. At the risk of duplicating my sentiments from this week’s edition of Phillies Nation TV, it would be a complete disservice to Darin Ruf if the Phillies don’t promote him to the big league roster once Reading’s season is done. Ruf’s August (.371 av...

Red Pinstripe Resolutions

Over on one of my other internet homes, PhilliesNation.com, top guy Pat Gallen surveyed the contributors of that site for New Year's resolutions pertaining to the Phillies. Included were several interesting points of view including concerns related to Charlie Manuel, Placido Polanco and Cole Hamels. Read ahead for my thoughts on this roundtable subject... My resolution is for the fans. To the Philadelphia faithful that sell out the Phillies' home park on a daily basis, stop acting a fool. Many members of the fan base despise the manner in which they are depicted by the national media and while pointing out how other city's ticket holders don't get generalized in the same fashion, however the Philadelphia region's fans have continued to fail themselves in recent years. We're all familiar with the events when individuals who lacked good judgement, while in attendance at Citizens Bank Park, caused mischief , violated others or took violence to the ultimate level ....

PN Round Table: Brown on Postseason Roster?

Today over at PhilliesNation.com, their team of writers took part in a round table discussion, answering the question of whether or not rookie outfielder Domonic Brown should be included on the Phillies' postseason roster. Various points of view were expressed, however my answer to the inquiry was left out of the published piece. Below are the thoughts that I submitted on the matter. No, Domonic Brown should not be included on the Phillies' postseason roster unless manager Charlie Manuel begins using Brown a considerable amount over the final week of the regular season. As things stand now, the 24-year-old Brown has been the odd man out, as at bats that could be suited for Brown are going to John Bowker and others. Even before rejoining the Phillies last week, Brown slumped so much down the stretch, for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, that he was benched for two of the team's seven playoff games. Additionally, in the recent action that Brown did see for L...
