Steve Noworyta Interview

Last week at the Phillies' winter banquet stop in Lakewood, NJ, I had the opportunity to chat with the team's assistant director of minor league operations Steve Noworyta. Among the developmental topics we discussed, he commented on a pair of players who have had disciplinary issues, namely Stephen Malcolm (sent home by the Phils for the full 2011 season) and Zach Collier (50 game suspension related to banned substances, beginning at the start of the 2012 season). I also asked Noworyta about the recent rookie developmental program in Philadelphia, lefty pitcher Jesse Biddle as well as last year's draft class.

Ha- well, many of the snippets I use are my cousin playing. I'll let him know he's building a fan base here.

Also, it's 8-10 seconds so I can intro the piece with a few words. It's not like it's a drawn out 45-60 second introduction.

Stats to Ponder: Jimmy Rollins Edition

J-Roll has batted under .200 for a calendar month twice in his career. In April 2004, Rollins went 13-for-71, for a .183 average. The following month, Rollins went 30-for-107, which is a .280 average. And in August 2005, Rollins went 22-for-117, for a .188 average. Weekend greetings to you phine pholks out there. Today's post features pictures of rappers wearing Phillies caps. Why rappers in Phillies caps, you ask? Because... Any other questions? We will start things off properly by going with a highly recognizable hip hop star. 50 Cent stays constantly relavant by consistantly creating radio friendly material to help sell (G) units, while he "keeps it real" by still rapping about the thug life he lived before becoming the 2nd highest earning black entertainer in America. 50 is seen here in a recent interview rocking a throw-back Phillies cap.
