8 Crazy Nights- Best 2009 Phillies YouTubes

We started this tradition last year. Each night of Hanukkah, PhoulBallz.com will countdown the 8 best Phillies videos on YouTube from that year.

So, as we begin holiday celebrations in the multi-cultural Fam of Ballz, we invite you to light candles with us as we celebrate the festival of lights, deliver gifts to children, eat latkes and light candles.

This year's #8 Phillies YouTube is a clip of the Phillies' radio broadcasters' call of the NL East division clincher. It's really not a video, but it's on YouTube, while TV calls are not, because MLB is stingy with their footage...thus we have the radio call. Scott Franzke is a gem and this clip is outstanding as he paints a picture. The entire situation was great...from the stadium scoreboard staff not notifying the crowd in attendance and the players of the field that the Phillies were already division champs due to a Braves loss seconds prior to the final out, to Charlie Manuel calling on Brad Lidge to pitch the final out.

Add to that the team toast to the Harry Kalas sign, and everything about that evening was perfect.

Enjoy and happy Hanukkah, phans. Keep it crispy.

Harry Kalas Phorever...

Legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas passed away today. Harry collapsed while preparing to call today's game against the Washington Nationals. So many phans will feel as though we've lost a member of our own families. I feel as though I've lost a part of myself, but Harry enhanced my love of the great sport we call baseball and I will always carry that love, and Harry, in my heart. I've stated on this page before that I consider Harry more of a Phillie than anyone who wears the uniform as an active member of the roster. Harry Kalas was a Phillie. Moreso, Harry Kalas was the Phillies. Please share your thoughts and memories of Harry in the comments section, or send them to PhoulBallz (at) verizon (dot) net.

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
