Phillies Minor League Hot List: Casimiro, Crawford, Eflin

Here's another dose of the Phillies minor league hot list as we rundown the organization's top performers of late from the various levels of the developmental system.

Class A Lakewood BlueClaws-

In his last five starts, righty pitcher Ranfi Casimiro has a 2-1 record with a 1.00 ERA. Listed at six-foot-eight and 200 pounds, Casimiro has a 2-3 record with a 2.74 ERA, a .217 batting average against and a 0.94 WHIP in seven starts this year. The Dominican Republic native is 22 years old.

Outfielder Herlis Rodriguez has notched three straight muti-hit games and is batting .322 in 15 May games. The 20-year-old Venezuelan has posted a .257 average with two homers, 18 RBI and six steals in 32 overall games this season.

Class A Advanced Clearwater Threshers-

Righty pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. is 2-0 with a 1.01 ERA in four outings since joining the Threshers' rotation. Overall in 10 games, the 24-year-old has a 3-0 record with a save and a 1.30 ERA. Leiter was the Phillies' 22nd round draft selection in 2013.

Prior to his 0-for-4 effort on Sunday, shortstop J.P. Crawford had gone 15-for-34 (.441 avg) in his previous eight games. In 17 games since he was activated from the disabled list (oblique strain), Crawford has a .375 average with a home run and eight RBI. The 20-year-old was the Phils' top draft choice in 2013.


Double-A Reading Fightins-

Righty starter Zach Eflin has allowed one earned run in 16 2/3 innings over his last two starts. In eight starts, the 21-year-old has tallied a 4-3 record with a 2.28 ERA while striking out 23 and walking nine in 51 1/3 innings. Eflin was acquired in the Jimmy Rollins trade from the Dodgers last off-season.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs-

Infielder Chase d'Arnaud is 14-for-35 (.400 avg) over his last nine games. In 26 games, the 28-year-old is batting .319 with four doubles, a home run and nine RBI.

After allowing earned runs in four of his first five appearances this season, right-handed reliever Seth Rosin has allowed two total earned runs in 18 1/3 innings (0.98 ERA) over 13 games. Overall, the 26-year-old has a 1-1 record with two saves and a 2.10 ERA in 18 outings.

2022 Top Phillies Prospects Countdown: #13 OF Ethan Wilson

Taken with the Phillies' second round draft pick (49th overall) last year, outfielder Ethan Wilson has landed among the top prospects in the organization. A co-freshman of the year in 2019, with South Alabama, Wilson has been on the radar of some big league teams for quite a while.  In his junior season last year, Wilson batted .313 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.  When his collegiate season was through, the lefty hitter quickly debuted in the minors.   In 30 games with Class A Clearwater last year, Wilson tallied a .215 average with three homers, 17 RBI and two steals. Listed at six-foot-one, 210-pounds, Wilson opened the 2022 campaign with Class A Advanced Jersey Shore.  The 22-year-old has been slow to start offensively, but confidence and poise are not a problem for this strong, promising individual. Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine.
