There's a whole lot going on in Phillies land today!

Pedro Martinez got his first win as a Phillie last night, over the Cubs. Pedro looked solid through his first 4 innings, but gave up 2 earned runs in the 5th inning. Pedro's complete line, after 99 pitches- 5 innings, 7 hits, 3 runs all earned, 1 walk, 5 k's.

TheFightins has a review of the Victorino/Cubs fan/beer incident.
NQTC offers some thoughts on Wrigley bleacher fans, last night's mishap and if the Cubs had anything to do with it.
TricoSuave has a look at Shane's beer shower fun as well.
The double A Reading Phillies' locker room reaction to the beer tossed into Shane's face: "Nice timing." Cubs manager Lou Piniella was disappointed that it happened, stating, "It’s not good sportsmanship. … We apologize to Victorino and the Phillies for that."

Brett Myers threw two more simulated innings yesterday in Clearwater, FL. Myers is hoping to pitch a rehab assignment soon.

Phillies outfield prospect Michael Taylor went 5-for-5 and hit for the cycle last night in the Lehigh Valley IronPigs' victory. Taylor's homer came in the 9th inning to tie the game and set the stage for an extra inning victory for the IronPigs. As bad as Eric Bruntlett has been this season (.398 OPS), Matt Stairs has played just as poorly, as of late. Stairs in July & August- 1-for-24 (.047 avg), 1 HR, 1 RBI, 3 runs. Bruntlett in July & August- 2-for-19 (.105 avg), 0 HR, 1 RBI, 3 runs. Since the All star break, the Phillies bench has faltered. Matt Stairs and Eric Bruntlett are a combined 1-for-31 (.032 avg) with 0 HR, 0 RBI and 2 runs scored, during that 4 week stretch.

2022 Top Phillies Prospects Countdown: #13 OF Ethan Wilson

Taken with the Phillies' second round draft pick (49th overall) last year, outfielder Ethan Wilson has landed among the top prospects in the organization. A co-freshman of the year in 2019, with South Alabama, Wilson has been on the radar of some big league teams for quite a while.  In his junior season last year, Wilson batted .313 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.  When his collegiate season was through, the lefty hitter quickly debuted in the minors.   In 30 games with Class A Clearwater last year, Wilson tallied a .215 average with three homers, 17 RBI and two steals. Listed at six-foot-one, 210-pounds, Wilson opened the 2022 campaign with Class A Advanced Jersey Shore.  The 22-year-old has been slow to start offensively, but confidence and poise are not a problem for this strong, promising individual. On the base paths, Wilson is quick and can contribute with his feet.  Defensively, the Alabama native will likely play left or right field moving forward.  Possessing an ability t

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
