Phillies prospects predict WrestleMania results

For those of you that read the site regularly and perhaps also follow a few Phillies Nation staffers on Twitter, you know that some of us are lifelong professional wrestling fanatics. Not surprisingly, some Phillies minor league players have also long enjoyed action in the squared circle as well.

This weekend marks the Super Bowl of the pro wrestling world, with WWE's WrestleMania set to take place in California. I caught up with minor league hurler Mark Leiter Jr. along with outfield prospect Brian Pointer to get their predictions on the full card.

Here is how the two youngsters see the event shaking out along with some insight from each man on the World Champ Brock Lesnar's part time/special attraction status with the company as well as if they each see his main event challenger Roman Reigns as a viable contender for the championship strap:

WWE World Heavyweight Title Match, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns

Leiter- I like Reigns, but whoever wrote that ending to the (Royal) Rumble really dropped the ball. Having Big Show and Kane (remaining at the end)? Everyone knew they weren't winning. Then the Rusev thing just was stupid. As cool as Lesnar is, it's hard to buy a champion who only wrestles on pay per view.

Lesnar wins. Rollins then cashes in his Money in the Bank contract and loses.

Pointer- I'm a Brock Lesnar guy. I would like to see him more, but he will only come on part time. I don't really like that because I want to see him in more matches, but when he comes on, I am pumped! And I think Reigns will be a big time superstar, but I don't think he can match Lesnar right now. Lesnar is on a roll and it's not stopping.

Triple H vs. The Icon Sting in Stings's WWE wrestling debut

Leiter- I see Sting winning.

Pointer- Sting all the way.

Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt

Leiter- 'Taker has to win.

Pointer- I see Wyatt taking this one over "the Deadman".

Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match, Bad News Barrett defends against R-Truth, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Stardust and Luke Harper

Leiter- Ambrose is your winner.

Pointer- Bryan or Ambrose...I'll go with Ambrose.

Divas tag team match, Nikki and Brie Bella vs. Paige and AJ Lee

Leiter- Bellas are the best.

Pointer- AJ and Paige.

"The Viper" Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins

Leiter- Orton goes over.

Pointer- Rollins wins.

United States Title match, Champion Rusev defends against John Cena

Leiter- Cena all day.

Pointer- Cena wins!

Tag team title match, Champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro defend against Los Matadores, Big E Langston and Kofi Kingston as well as the Uso Brothers

Leiter- Kidd and Cesaro pull this one out.

Pointer- Cesaro and Kidd stay the champs.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, featuring The Miz, Fandango, Hideo Itami, Ryback, Damien Mizdow, Curtis Axel, Zack Ryder, Big Show, Kane, Darren Young, Jack Swagger, Goldust and others.

Leiter- Ryback wins. Feed him more!

Pointer- Let's go with Damien Mizdow. It's his time to be a star.

Phillies look-alikes, Part 1

The Phillies are World Series Champions and, thus, are world wide celebrities. This recognition isn't enough, I tell you. Jesmuel Valentin, image- Jay Floyd Switch-hitting infielder Jesmuel Valentin has been a bit of an underrated contributor with the Double-A Reading Fightins. Heading into action on Friday, Valentin was batting .339 over his last 14 games. Overall this season, the 22-year-old is batting .282 with four home runs and 35 RBI in 64 games. Valentin, who plays mostly second base, but dabbles at shortstop a bit also, is the son of former big leaguer Jose Valentin . The Puerto Rico native was a supplementary round pick (51st overall) of the Dodgers in 2012. He was acquired by the Phils as part of the Roberto Hernandez trade in 2014. PhoulBallz Interview: RHP Prospect Brody Colvin

Recently, right-handed pitcher Brody Colvin was promoted from Class A Advanced Clearwater to Double-A Reading. Prior to the 2012 season, Colvin, who turns 22-years-old on Tuesday, was ranked as PhilliesNation's 6th best prospect . This season, following some ups and downs, it's unclear where Colvin will rank next preseason. Earlier this year, Colvin, a Louisiana native, was removed from Clearwater's starting rotation and moved to the bullpen to relax and improve his mental approach. He did so and returned to starting after a brief time. Through his first two outings with the R-Phils, the 7th round draft choice from 2009 posted a 1-0 record while allowing five earned runs in 11 innings (4.09 ERA). In his last start on Saturday, however, Colvin allowed eight earned runs in 2 2/3 innings pitched in a loss to New Britain.
