Phils Prospect Lisalberto Bonilla Footage

Dominican born right-hander Lisalberto Bonilla took great strides in the Phillies developmental system during the 2011 season. As hurlers like Justin De Fratus, Julio Rodriguez, Jesse Biddle and Trevor May excelled on the mound and proved worthy of their high prospect rankings within the organization, they were joined by a fast rising star with great control and a solid repertoire.

Bonilla sports a fastball that regularly reaches the mid-90's as well as a great change up and an always-improving slider.

Signed by the Phillies in 2008, Bonilla made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Phillies the following year, posting a 6-2 record with a 1.41 ERA and a .189 batting average against in 11 games, all starts.

In 2010, Bonilla split his season with the Gulf Coast League Phillies and the short season Williamsport Crosscutters. In 16 combined games, Bonilla went 3-4 with a 3.99 ERA.

The 6-feet-1-inch 170-pound Bonilla began the 2011 season in extended spring training, but joined the Class-A Lakewood BlueClaws in time to earn a spot on the South Atlantic League mid-season All-Star team. Overall, Bonilla posted a 4-5 record with a 2.80 ERA with 95 strike outs in 106 innings. The 21-year-old appeared in 26 games, 15 of which were starts.

Late in the 2011 regular season, Bonilla was ranked among the Phillies' top 20 prospects in a survey of minor league experts conducted by The Reading Eagle.

The native of Samana, DR has participated in the Florida Instructional League following each of the past two seasons.

Lidge Shaky, T-Mac Honored in Trenton

TRENTON, NJ- Brad Lidge made his second rehab appearance for the Double A Reading Phillies on Thursday night and it didn't go as well as the veteran reliever or the team had hoped. Lidge struggled with his command and turned in a rather poor outing for the club that entered the night in a playoff race, 1 game behind division rival Trenton for the Wild Card spot in the Eastern Division. On the disabled list since spring training with a strained right rotator cuff, Lidge experienced an elbow strain when he was working back from that issue in late May. In his outing against the Yankees affiliate in Trenton, Lidge displayed difficulty with his control as he threw three wild pitches, hit two batters, walked another and gave up a single, all while letting up two earned runs on 28 pitches in 2/3 of an inning. After the disappointing performance, Lidge was composed and focused on some positive aspects, having reached 89 and 90 MPH on scouts' radar guns, according to some reports. ...

While the Phillies are on a hot streak this month, one player on the team is not. Eric Bruntlett is 1-for-12 in July.
