Yankees Fans Effect Team's Shot at Landing Lee?

In a report from USA Today, the wife of Texas Rangers ace pitcher Cliff Lee, Kristen, described many issues the Rangers' families had to deal with at Yankee Stadium during the American League Championship Series. Mrs. Lee stated that wives of Rangers players were taunted with vulgar language and had beer thrown their way while being spit at from above.

"The fans did not do good things in my heart," Kristen Lee told USA Today. "When people are staring at you, and saying horrible things, it's hard not to take it personal."

With free agency in Lee's near future and the Yankees widely considered a front runner to acquire any greatly desired elite MLB player on the market, the treatment of Lee's wife by some hardcore New Yorkers doesn't bode well for their team's chances.

Cliff Lee told the NY Daily News, "There were some people that were spitting off the balcony on to the family section and stuff like that, which is kind of weak. What can you do?"

Following being sent to Seattle by the Phillies last December for three prospects, Lee was traded to Texas, with pitcher Mark Lowe, by Seattle in a July deal that brought four players back to the Mariners.

Lee's free agency race has been considered a two horse race, as the Lee family has been clear about it's love for their new Texas team and its proximity to their off-season home in Arkansas, and with the Yankees vigilantly keeping tabs on the man who has shut them down in the postseason in two straight years. However, Phillies beat reporter Jim Salisbury has made his insider knowledge of the Phillies' potential desire to bring Lee back to Philadelphia known. On Wednesday, Salisbury told 97.3 ESPN's Mike Gill, "I really think (the Phillies) want to make a phone call on Cliff Lee. They will have to move or eat some contracts." Salisbury is rarely incorrect with his hunches and reports.

Time will tell in the off-season lottery extravaganza that will be Clifton Phifer Lee's free agency. But, for Phillies phans that will struggle to watch as their cast-off 2009 ace leads a different team into the World Series, while their beloved Fightins miss out, the disrespect shown by the Bronx Bombers faithful could add a glimmer of hope to the possibility that Lee could be rocking RED pin stripes once again.

I think Lee is staying in Texas. They will offer the best combo of payday and quality of life.

2022 Top Phillies Prospects Countdown: #13 OF Ethan Wilson

Taken with the Phillies' second round draft pick (49th overall) last year, outfielder Ethan Wilson has landed among the top prospects in the organization. A co-freshman of the year in 2019, with South Alabama, Wilson has been on the radar of some big league teams for quite a while.  In his junior season last year, Wilson batted .313 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.  When his collegiate season was through, the lefty hitter quickly debuted in the minors.   In 30 games with Class A Clearwater last year, Wilson tallied a .215 average with three homers, 17 RBI and two steals. Listed at six-foot-one, 210-pounds, Wilson opened the 2022 campaign with Class A Advanced Jersey Shore.  The 22-year-old has been slow to start offensively, but confidence and poise are not a problem for this strong, promising individual. On the base paths, Wilson is quick and can contribute with his feet.  Defensively, the Alabama native will likely play left or right field moving forward.  Possessing an ability t

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
