What the Utley?

New Yorkers must not read the Phoul Ballz Phillies blog. Perhaps the 1260AM Yankees blogger, Charod, can pass the message along to Yankees fans that Chase Utley is ABOVE THE BOO. I get the whole rivalry thing. Jeter gets booed in Boston, and that whole deal…White Sox and Cubs are booed at one another’s parks also, but certain guys are above the boo.

Utley, not used to hearing jeers, due to his saint-like, Cal Junior-esque status, reacted in a manner that was out of character, during introductions at the MLB all star homerun derby, last night. He quickly forgot about the microphone on his jersey & the camera in his face and jokingly said an expletive directed right back at the NYC crowd. I am here to set the record straight. The national reports of Utley swearing on the live broadcast are incorrect. Sure, it sounded like the F-word. However, Chase Utley has a different style…you should recognize it. When Chase Utley uses that word, it starts with a “Ph”. Don’t get it twisted.

The boos should be louder than ever during tonight’s All star game at Yankee Stadium. Yankees fans, I don’t phreakin’ blame you, but while Utley has now clinched his permanent boo-berth in NYC for years to come, he has also clinched his cheer pass throughout the rest of baseball. Boston? They’re going to LOVE Chase Utley for cursing at the Yankees' crowd. Oakland and Anaheim? Mmm-hmm…they’ll like a guy who tells New Yorkers what’s up. Cleveland, Baltimore, Chicago…? The list goes on. Chase Utley is likely now the most popular National Leaguer in American League baseball cities, except one…and it’s all phuck’n good.

I recognize Chase Utley's style. I'm the one who gave it to him!

2022 Top Phillies Prospects Countdown: #13 OF Ethan Wilson

Taken with the Phillies' second round draft pick (49th overall) last year, outfielder Ethan Wilson has landed among the top prospects in the organization. A co-freshman of the year in 2019, with South Alabama, Wilson has been on the radar of some big league teams for quite a while.  In his junior season last year, Wilson batted .313 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.  When his collegiate season was through, the lefty hitter quickly debuted in the minors.   In 30 games with Class A Clearwater last year, Wilson tallied a .215 average with three homers, 17 RBI and two steals. Listed at six-foot-one, 210-pounds, Wilson opened the 2022 campaign with Class A Advanced Jersey Shore.  The 22-year-old has been slow to start offensively, but confidence and poise are not a problem for this strong, promising individual. On the base paths, Wilson is quick and can contribute with his feet.  Defensively, the Alabama native will likely play left or right field moving forward.  Possessing an ability t

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
