Weak week

It's been a long time...I shouldn't have left you without a strong blog to step to. Think of how many weak blogs you slept through. Time's up. Sorry I kept you....

So, those Phillies are still clinging onto first place after one of the most sucktastic weeks in recent memory. 5 straight losses to the two best teams in the American League. 9 total runs scored in those 5 losses. .166 batting avg. during that streak. And 4 straight series losses to top it all off.

Slumps R Us. The much talked about Chase Utley slump (0-for-24) was broken on Sunday with a double. The Philadelphia phaithful responded by offering the all star second baseman a standing ovation for hanging tough and getting back into the proverbial swing of things. Utley's sad stretch now stands at a 1-for-27 (.037 avg) skid. Silently creeping up to match Utley's recent ineptitude, is Pat Burrell. Pat the bat is currently stuck in a 1-for-19 (.053 avg) slump. The season long pinch hitting slump continues for Phoul Ballz phavorite, So Taguchi. After his poor showing on Sunday, Taguchi has reached 0-for-12 (.000 avg) in pinch hitting appearances this season.

Statement to ponder: Chase Utley is suck-proof.
Getting back to Chase Utley, and his immense popularity that I tossed around, last time...what would this guy have to do to get booed in Philadelphia? He goes hitless for 20+ at bats, and got a remarkable crowd reaction, once he broke it. If Chase went all J-Mike on the police, would the phans be upset? If he got impatient with a media member and called him a retard like Brett Myers did, would anyone be offended? If he got his "TO" on and bashed his teammates and made a circus of the locker room, would the CBP crowd tell him about himself? It's quite possible that Mr. Utley would be immune to such judgements, but rest assured he would never suck, in any of those manners. Chase Utley is certainly above the boo, and he's suck-proof. It's true times two, and you heard it here first.

Stats to ponder...The Phillies have 4 wins and 11 losses in games in which Jimmy Rollins steals at least one base. That is a .267 winning pct. The Phillies have 9 wins and 6 losses in games in which Shane Victorino steals at least one base. That is a .600 winning pct.
Dear Charlie, Please, keep the leadoff guy from ripping off bags and send the Hawaiian guy more often. Thanks.

2022 Top Phillies Prospects Countdown: #13 OF Ethan Wilson

Taken with the Phillies' second round draft pick (49th overall) last year, outfielder Ethan Wilson has landed among the top prospects in the organization. A co-freshman of the year in 2019, with South Alabama, Wilson has been on the radar of some big league teams for quite a while.  In his junior season last year, Wilson batted .313 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.  When his collegiate season was through, the lefty hitter quickly debuted in the minors.   In 30 games with Class A Clearwater last year, Wilson tallied a .215 average with three homers, 17 RBI and two steals. Listed at six-foot-one, 210-pounds, Wilson opened the 2022 campaign with Class A Advanced Jersey Shore.  The 22-year-old has been slow to start offensively, but confidence and poise are not a problem for this strong, promising individual. On the base paths, Wilson is quick and can contribute with his feet.  Defensively, the Alabama native will likely play left or right field moving forward.  Possessing an ability t

Ryan Madson is acting questionable

I've seen similar types of "poking fun" entries on other Phillies blogs. When this picture came across my desk today, I figured, "Why not...?" Ryan Madson was out on the town (Manayunk) over the weekend and was photographed acting pretty with a purse slung over his shoulder and being chummy with a friend of mine. Can I really call him a friend, if he's actually my friends' friend , and I only prank called him once? Sure, why the heck not?!
